Lenses

The right lenses matter as much as the frame. Here is a plain-English guide to the options; our optometrists will confirm the best choice for your prescription and lifestyle.

Lens types

Single vision

One prescription across the whole lens, for distance, reading or computer use.

Varifocal (Multifocal)

Distance, intermediate and reading zones in one lens, with no visible line. Varifocals need a frame with enough lens depth; look for frames marked varifocal-friendly.

Non-prescription

Plain lenses, with or without coatings, for frames worn for style or protection.

Coatings and tints

  • Anti-reflective coating for clearer vision and better-looking glasses
  • Blue light filter
  • Light-adapting lenses that darken outdoors
  • Sun tints and polarised lenses

How ordering works
